Why the gold matters
Here’s the thing: most infrared lamps just throw heat in every direction. But in a semiconductor tool, that’s a waste. You only care about the heat hitting the wafer. So, we put a thin layer of gold on the back of the quartz tube. It acts like a mirror, pushing all that IR energy forward. The result? You get a massive jump in heat density without having to crank up the wattage. You hit your target temperatures way faster. Plus, gold is chemically inert. It won’t oxidize or peel off into your chamber, so your “zero-contamination” goal actually stays a reality.
The grit on materials and heat
We stick with high-purity quartz because it stops impurities from migrating when things get hot. These lamps are built for the grind—they can handle rapid thermal cycling without breaking a sweat. But a quick heads-up: because that gold coating pushes so much energy forward, the heat flux on the front face is intense. Make sure your cooling manifolds are spec’d correctly. If you don’t, the quartz can overheat at the ends.
Getting them installed (and keeping them running)
We designed these to be drop-in replacements. No fuss. We’ve tightened up the seals so you don’t have to worry about particles escaping while you’re installing them. One tip on the wiring: keep your power supply stable. Voltage spikes are killers; they’ll burn out your filament way before their time. And if you notice the output dipping? It’s usually just surface gunk on the quartz. Grab some electronic-grade IPA and give them a strict cleaning. Just please,stop using abrasive cloths. They scratch the coating and create the exact kind of particles you’re trying to kill. Stick to the soft stuff.
