
Stop Shivering in the Bathroom: How Our Infrared Heaters Actually Work
We’ve all been there. You step out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom, and suddenly you’re shivering while trying to dry off. It’s the worst. Standard heaters try to warm up the air in the room, which takes forever. We decided to do something different. We use short-wave infrared technology. Instead of waiting for the air to get warm, these units send heat directly to your skin and the surfaces around you. The result? You feel the warmth the second you flip the switch. No waiting. No shivering. The secret is in the quartz. Inside each unit is a high-wattage quartz heating element. We kept it compact but powerful so it hits operating temperature almost instantly. It sends out electromagnetic waves—essentially the same way the sun warms you on a winter day. Because it doesn’t have to heat every cubic inch of air in the room first, you feel that “glow” immediately, even if the room’s thermostat hasn’t moved an inch yet. Built for the steam Bathrooms are tough on electronics. Between the humidity and the steam, things usually rust or short out. To stop that, we tucked the electronics into waterproof casings. We also used a specific type of quartz glass that can handle “thermal shock.” That’s just a fancy way of saying it won’t crack when it jumps from room temperature to 600°C in a heartbeat. Plus, we added tight seals around the wiring so steam can’t sneak in and cause a mess. A few things to keep in mind for installation These are designed to slide right into your existing ceiling fixtures. They wire directly into your mains, but just double-check that your circuit breaker can handle the initial power draw. One heads-up: since short-wave IR is so intense, the lamp getsreallyhot. If you mount the unit too low, you’ll end up with “hot spots” where it feels like you’re standing too close to a campfire. You’ll want to pick your mounting height based on the wattage so the heat spreads out evenly across the area where you’re actually standing.
