Picking the right infrared lamp isn’t about following a rigid chart; it’s about understanding your room. Bathrooms are tricky. You’ve got all those cold tiles and porcelain surfaces that basically act like sponges, soaking up all the warmth the moment it hits the air. If you want to actually feel warm without burning through your electric bill, you have to match the power to the space. The size of the room matters If you’re dealing with a tiny bathroom—think under 5m²—you don’t need a monster of a heater. A 250W to 400W lamp usually does the trick. It’ll keep you cozy without turning the room into a sauna. Here is the thing: if you put a 600W lamp in a tiny space, it’ll hit the temperature limit almost instantly. The heater will keep clicking on and off every few seconds. That “short-cycling” is a killer—it wears out your relays way faster than they should. For the bigger bathrooms (around 6m² to 12m²), you’ll want 600W or 800W units. You need that extra punch to fight off the chill coming off those big tiled walls. The balance between heat and power Sure, high-wattage lamps get the room hot fast. But they’re hungry for power. If you try to cram four 800W lamps onto one circuit with thin wiring, you’re going to run into trouble. You’ll notice the lights dimming or the heat just… dropping.
