
When we set out to build a heater for an elderly person’s room, we kept three things front and center: it has to warm the room fast, it can’t hog the floor space, and it has to just work—day after day, with zero fuss. The heart of these heaters is the halogen infrared tube. And that’s not just a fancy way of saying “bulb.” It’s a serious heat source, designed to warm people and furniture directly, without wasting energy heating the air. Here’s the thing about the power: we run it at 2500W, typically on a 230V/400V circuit. That punch gives you a lot of warmth in a small package, and it kicks in the moment you need it. The tube itself stays compact—about 300mm long—so the whole unit stays slim. That matters when you’re working with a tight room where a bulky convection heater would feel like a clumsy intruder. The quartz glass tube is coated and filled with halogen gas, which lets the filament run hotter and brighter without wearing out quickly. The coating also filters out the harsh visible light, so what you get is a clean, focused infrared warmth. And the R7s connector? It’s a simple two-pin end-cap setup. That means the tube is a straightforward drop-in replacement. No complicated mounting. Just line it up and wire it. Easy. In a room for an older adult, the goal is steady, direct warmth—without air blowing around and stirring up dust. Halogen infrared does exactly that. Now, there is a trade-off: you get a lot of radiant heat. So the enclosure and nearby parts need to be built to handle high ambient temperatures. That’s a basic engineering reality we plan for from the start, so the heater keeps performing reliably for its full life.
